OK, I snorted at that one. I still have a working cathode ring (and British!) depth sounder from the '70s. I don't even know where the transducer is...I've never seen it, anywhere. And yet it works, if you can interpret its Ouija-board-like "display", and so I have never wanted to chuck it. It's a back up to the 10-year-old fishfinder!
