Currently there are about 775,000 apps available, with about 15,000 apps per month being added. Pretty astounding numbers. Search the app store using the word "Navigation", and there are a huge number of apps available. The list goes from A to Z. The letter "A" list is 8 pages long alone.

This turned into a musing about what could be possible if there was a Nav system hardware platform that was open to software developers with lots of extra hardware to work with. All of the hardware and capabilities described do exist today.

Leap Motion started on Kickstarter, and has already signed up 40,000 software app developers. The hardware to implement what was seen in "Minority Report" costs about $80.00.

In other words, provide a boat suitable chart plotter hardware platform, and the software developers worldwide will come and make it work, and maybe provide much more we haven't thought of yet.

As a last note I wanted the link at the end to go someplace, and there are few people as funny as David Thorne, and Missing Missy is one of his best pieces.Bill Bishop - Parmainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11554223870035485145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7834826019588534175.post-48819920815588454232013-04-19T01:59:16.917-04:002013-04-19T01:59:16.917-04:00Little late for April fools, no?
