I don't think it was being pulled under, the jet ski just lost its buoyancy as it approached the back of the ship. years ago I was in a 19' skiff in Bermuda. We were following a very large ocean going tug named Powerful. The closer we got to its stern the lower in the water the skiff got. This was being caused by the aeration of the water by the props which reduced the water density. To be honest it was scary and if we hadn't turned away from the wake the boat would have sunk.
