With that being said I too was just at the NMEA Convention and I had a great time! Between the location, the learning tracks, and the people what's not to like. I have been absent from the NMEA convention for the two previous years, I hope they continue on the path of making the convention valuable to the attendees rather than the gathering of the good ole’ boys club. I think they will continue to see attendance grow which can only mean good things for the industry as a whole. I think the future is bright for the NMEA. I was so upset when NMEA2000 came out and being a technician I knew the benefit it would have, not only to the techs and installers but to the customers as well, only to see some manufacturers take this great technology and opportunity and repackage it to where it almost wasn’t recognizable. There are still those few hold outs that refuse to “play by the rules” but all and all I think we are starting to see benefit to the wide spread adoption of these standards. However I speak with customers on a daily basis that still don’t know what NMEA2000 is. Which I guess some people just don’t care how this stuff works; just so long as it is working, until something breaks that is. We can only educate the willing, unfortunately the unwilling make life very hard for us techs! C'est la vie! Keep up the good work Brother Bill!
